Is it real concrete?
The Nood Co concrete composition is a complex one. We won’t bore you with too many details, but the Nood Co concrete is free of chemicals. It is 100% natural concrete.
Comprised of 8 components, each one assists in its own specific way, whether improving the concrete strength, the water ratio, mix integrity, water tolerance, colouring, durability and more. We feel Colonel Saunders’ pain. -
Do concrete basins chip?
Nood Co is made from UHP (Ultra High Performance) concrete. The strength of our basins is comparable to that of a ceramic basin, if not stronger. Our basins have between an 8mm and 20mm thick wall of fibre-reinforced concrete. They are very strong. In the highly unlikely event that your basin is chipped, rest assured it is pigmented ( meaning the colour you see on the outside, will be colour you see on the inside ).
Nood Co offer colour repair kits and simple how-to videos for any little accidents. To give an example - for every 1000 basins we sold last year, we gave out 5 repair kits. -
Will the concrete need to be resealed?
No. The sealer is embedded in the concrete. 3-4 coats of sealer per piece, along with admixes placed into the concrete composition ensure a basin ready for real world use.
We don’t want to confuse the client with too much detail, so the simple way to express this is: " the concrete has sealer embedded into the concrete and hence there is no topical sealer, or sealer that can de-laminate/ sheet off/ peel over time. It is a defining and critical difference between Nood Co and competitors.
That said, this is concrete, a beautiful natural material, and over time will gain character very slowly. Nood Co have taken concrete to its limit with water and stain tolerance, but like all natural materials, our basins need a little bit of TLC. Please do not sell this as ceramic, it is a natural material. -
The colour is very even in colour and patina. Why is this?
Nood Co basins have around 20% visual patina for 3 reasons:
1. Our goal is to feature concrete products that are complementary to the other elements of the bathroom. By reducing the patina, our piece doesn’t distract from other elements, but more complements the tiles, tapware, the lighting or the mirror.2. Continuity. By reducing the patina, we are able to create batches of products that match perfectly, allowing larger projects to visually succeed. In the case of two basins sitting next to each other, it ensures a visual continuity.
3. To allow the design to speak. Nood Co is about duality. It is critical that the design has room to breathe and be enjoyed, by removing some of the boldness, rawness, masculinity of the concrete patina, the Nood Co piece takes on a stunning visual experience. One of hard versus soft, masculine versus feminine.

Will the basins crack?
Nood Co provide a 24 month structural warranty with all basins, and can assure the client that these sinks will not deteriorate by themselves over time. The concrete is over-engineered for its bathroom use, and will stand the test of time in this environment.

Will it be damaged in transit?
Nood Co safely packages all product for domestic road/international air freight. This is a process we take very seriously. The product is packaged safely in 7mm double-edged cardboard, with 40mm expanded bubble packaging, and 4mm polyfoam. The basins are very safe in transit, something Nood Co is very proud of.

Is it different to installing a ceramic basin? Will my plumber get it?
Installation is very simple. There is an installation video here for plumbers to follow.
The only thing the plumber needs to be careful of, is to avoid placing his or her tools in the basin during installation. We ask that the plumber run clear silicon around the basin where it meets the bench top. Avoiding scratching the basin would also be ideal.
